This marks the first time since 1948, when the government first started collecting this data, that less than half of all U.S. youth were employed in July.
Current estimates say that there are approximately 3.5 million homeless Americans. There are also 18.9 million vacant homes. That means that for every homeless person in America there are 5 empty houses. Neglected homes are at best a waste of resources and at worst immoral in the face of a homeless population larger than Connecticut.
